VoIP market has seen exceptional growth this year
I read with interest that 'The Hosted VoIP market has seen exceptional growth in the first six months of 2015 with the total number of Hosted VoIP seats growing from 1,649,219 to 1,908,673 – a growth of 15.73%' (Dominic Black - VOIP Blog)
So what does this mean to you and me?
Well, to me it means that the power of traditional telephony companies to keep equipment costs artificially high is being broken.
With VOIP telephone switchboards, the whole ethos is about openness and the freedom to use the equipment we want at the price we want to pay. Interestingly, a major British Telecom vendor is trying desperately to cling on to the old model by claiming that by buying their proprietary branded VOIP equipment, it will improve their ability to guarantee availability of service! Actually, most good VOIP providers already exceed the service levels included in the guarantee.
So, to summarise, if you're a small to medium enterprise looking to add more phone lines or renew ageing telephone hardware you should talk to an IT company rather than a traditional telephony provider about a free trial to see if VOIP would suit your business.
