Do you long to work from home? Or perhaps you are not able to work at your normal premises and are forced to work remotely? This is an issue many business owners face, and there are plenty of ways to handle it so you can continue to do business as normal.

Cloud-First Businesses Have It Easier

Businesses already using cloud services will find this transition easy as they can access their services anywhere with an internet connection. For those who still have servers on-site, there are several options.

VPN

A VPN or Virtual Private Network creates a secure bridge between your home network and the one in the office, so when you are at home it is as if you are sat in the office. This can be set up for one person or the whole workforce and is very scalable. The main limiting factor is internet connection speed at home.

Remote Desktop Software

Software like LogMeIn or TeamViewer allows you to connect from your home PC to your work PC. This is similar to a VPN but not quite as secure.

Collaboration Tools

To collaborate with your team, there are plenty of instant messaging and video platforms. Office 365 includes Teams, Google Workspace includes Meet. Free options include Rocket Chat or Discord.

Phones

If you are using an analogue system, you can have the number diverted by your provider. If you are using VoIP phones, simply unplug them from the office, take them home, connect them to your internet, and they will work just like normal. Softphones on a mobile or PC are also a great option.
